So you podcast...
Wanna put your sound to the test?
Let's let the people decide who's the best.

Paul of the Double Barrel Soundsystem has challenged me and made remark several times that he's waiting to be slaughtered.

Daoster has his all ready to go and has been talking trash all week.

Who else wants in on this?

Heres how it's gonna go down...

Each podcaster will record a 30 minute set.

Each set must include the musical styles of Ska, Reggae, Rocksteady, and Dub spanning various eras.

Each podcaster will post their sets on their respective sites.

Podcast must be ready by Sunday July 15th 2007 to participate

When your podcast is ready post a link to your set in this thread

A poll will be placed at www.musicaloccupation.com for people to cast their votes.

That's it...easy as pie...the one that'll end up in the face of the losers!

Let the killin began!

Can you clarify what you mean by "spanning various eras"? Do you mean it needs to include modern bands that play those styles?

Hunting Season is now open, and all Deejays are fair game.

Bobby, please don't do a podcast with 30 versions of the Night Nurse Riddim, I heard that's what you did at soundclash.

...and I thought there was going to be some competition!!!

Just to make sure we're all on the same page,

A Sound clash is a musical competition where crew members from opposing reggae sound systems pit theirs skills against each other.

Sound clashes take place in a variety of venues, both indoors and outdoors. Traditionally, each sound system would use their own equipment. More recently, however, many venues have sound equipment 'built in'.

Primarily featuring reggae music, the object is to beat or "kill" their competitors. By choosing carefully the tracks played or "selecting" and featuring exclusive, personalised tracks or dub plate specials, a sound system can stimulate a more positive reaction from their audience and so win the clash.

Retrieved from "http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sound_clash"

I realize we don't all have personalized dub plates, but jeez!!! I was hoping for some more obscure tracks here, and maybe some dance floor fillers!!! Oh well, I guess I can just pull out one of those 10 dollar 3 disc comps from the mid 90's and compete!!!
